What does ArLA mean?

ArLA stands for Arquitectas Latinas, which means female Latin American architects(*) in Spanish.
What do we do?

Local bi-monthly face-to-face activities to connect with your community, and online webinars available to all members to cover topics about professional development and general well-being.
Can I find a job through ArLA?

Even though we do not offer job-seeking services, we do promote networking, provide tools to prepare your documents and share our experiences, which can lead to a potential job. Our members have already found jobs through contacts met in ArLA, as well as using the resources we provide for job hunting.
Do we offer architectural services?

No, we don't. We are not an architectural company and we do not offer architectural services.
Can you help me to migrate to Australia?

We are not immigration agents and we do not provide migration advice, any information obtained from the group is based on personal experiences and ArLA Australia is not responsible for any inconvenience caused by misinformation. We encourage members to seek professional migration advice to review their cases.
Why this community is for female Latin American architects and graduates of architecture only?

We would like to provide a safe space for women to feel supported in their professional journey. If you're not female, you are also welcome to join our activities, but please understand that this is a community of and for women. We also encourage Landscape Architects, Interior Designers, Urban Designers, Planners, and professionals from other fields to join us.
Why you don´t communicate in Spanish?

We love our mother tongue, however, we want to encourage members to use English, since it's the language used in Australia and we will use it daily at work. In this way, you will also be familiarised with the technical vocabulary and acronyms commonly used in architectural offices. Besides, we would like to indirectly help other non-Spanish-speaking people to join the architectural workforce in Australia. Our online activities, website and social media accounts are in English also to promote interaction with other local communities and organisations, however, we are keeping our Whatsapp chats and local outings in Spanish.

(*) We use the title of Architect only for registered Architects in the group, or referring to our overseas qualifications and work experience. We understand the title of Architect is protected by law in every State and Territory in Australia and we will not use it to promote any misuse of the title.
